Announcement for 2012 4th Quarter Issue

Deadline: September 17th 2012 @ 21:00

Imagine this if you will...

Humanity, a wild seed, floating through the vastness of the cosmos searching for fertile soil on which to cultivate. At the very least it is a search for knowledge to bring back home. Home happens to sit third from a star they call Sun. For years they have pointed radio transmissions, giant lenses and even sent satellites in all directions looking for others whom they might exchange and engage with. They have yet to find anything. What man is unaware of is that this planet, Earth, isn't their natural home. And on Thursday they will be visited by those they’ve called Gods who have come, to once again, send these seeds toward other potential gardens. Not all wild seeds survive. Those that do rarely then flourish. Old Gods discovered. New Men borne.

Whether inspired by the paranoia themes that soak our collective fears, the monsters that would haunt and make us question our own humanity or the unknown frontiers that we dream to discover, Science has always been a part of our storytelling.
We will find the supernatural and the saintly often times disguised within the two masks of comedy and tragedy. This seems to be our future if only because of our past. Man has built empires and religions on this fiction.

Le Jolie Rouge has become unfroze from an interstellar holiday and is looking to tell the stories of.

In short: the focus of this future press will be more akin to science fiction than any other form.

As like with all past issues of LJR you have total freedom of words and how they convey your work. You are responsible to keep all works submitted original, which is not to say that a signal or homage to the travelers before you cannot be paid.

Be aware of the loss in quality that generations breed when it comes to printing this zine. Meaning, materials used need to be able to translate onto the printed page... pencils are a bad example of a good print, ya dig?
NOTE: we press and bind at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, profile. Submissions should be kept to 6 pages max due to the size constraints. At the deadline we will decide which submissions are published at our discretion, however we are not biased to any form.

Submissions can be sent electronically to lejolierouge.zine@gmail.com
If your submission is not electronic, email us and we will make an arrangement.

We can also be contacted at (313)718-1064 where you can leave a voice message, audio submission or text message sized short story.
If you have any questions, please ask.

The deadline for this issue’s submissions is September 17th 2012 @ 21:00

Submission Deadline Announcement for Volume 2!

Oh hello. It's been a while since we last spoke. How are you? Great to hear. Us? Thanks for asking! We got caught up in the intoxication of summer. We swam in the Great Lakes of Michigan, we bicycled in the Highlands of the North. We fell asleep to the sounds of birds and the glow of the early morning sun. This is the cause of our delay in publishing. Sometimes, for a few glorious warm months, one casts away their responsibilities in order to spend a season care-free. Forgive us though, for with the inevitable demise of summer and the glorious funeral autumn provides for it, we have returned to announce the next issue of le jolie rouge.

The deadline for submissions is October 28th, tentatively. This date may change but it will only be moved later. Submission guidelines are as follows:

The format for submissions is open to you, this meaning all genres of the printed arts are welcome. Submissions should be kept to 4-5 pages at max due to size constraints for the zine. At our deadline, we will decide which submissions are published at our discretion however we are not biased to any form. Submissions can be sent electronically to: lejolierouge.zine@gmail.com. If your submission is not electronic, email us and we will make an arrangement. We can also be contacted at (313) 718-1064 where you can leave a voice message, audio submission or text message sized short story.

Notice: In the past, we have received submissions of pencil on paper, marker scanned and sent through email and images which translate to black and white poorly. We attempted to reproduce these submissions as dutifully as possible however, copy machines do not always comply. Therefore we are advising you to take into consideration the translation from creation to copy. If a submission is to go to print, and the translation is of sub-par quality, we have no choice but to pull it from the final product. All questions and concerns can be addressed to lejolierouge.zine@gmail.com.

We sit in our office in the glow of a still erected Christmas tree. It may seem that the weight of the winter has quieted the march but those boots won't be left on the porch any longer. Like cowboys in their underwear, shaking the malaise off our one piece thermals, baked beans ran dry, Hi Ho Silver Motherfuckers.
